MAYOR'S OFFICE
Kenneth Vines will be currently serving his second term as Mayor of the City of LaFayette.
A native of LaFayette, AL Mayor Vines is committed to realizing his vision of a more equitable, progressive, and compassionate city. To that end, he is advancing an agenda that addresses the community’s most pressing issues. As a lifelong public servant and leader, Mayor Vines previously served as LaFayette, Alabama Director of Public Safety, as Public Safety Director, Mayor Vines improved the overall quality of life in LaFayette, by increasing police and fire personnel and reduction in crime and better ambulance care for the Citizens of LaFayette and Chamber County. After 27 years of service Mayor Vines retired as the Public Safety Director.
Mayor Vines is a member of the Greater Poplar Springs Baptist Church and Chairman of the Board of Deacons, as well as an active member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and Kappa Kappa Psi Honorary Band Fraternity, Inc.
Mayor Vines is a proud graduate of LaFayette High School. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Alabama State University and a Master of Education Cum Laude from Alabama State University and Police Science from Jacksonville State University.
Mayor Vines is a proud parent of three children. Kenya (Keon) of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Torres school teacher in Montgomery, AL. Trevor is a graduate student at Kentucky State University and a graduate assistant coach of the football team. Two granddaughters Kylei and Kamry.
